A digital research project dedicated to the collection, documentation, and public dissemination of the letters of Nikos Kazantzakis, highlighting the significance of his correspondence for understanding his life and work. The digital edition includes the transcription, translation, and scholarly annotation of 1,000 letters, offering multiple search and filtering options to make the material accessible for research, education, and study. It provides a structured representation, links to related data, and analytical tools, making the letters dynamic and academically valuable in the digital space. A window to Kazantzakis’ universe and an open archive that illuminates the intellectual, personal, and historical dimensions of the author, as well as his network of contacts, contributing to the study and dissemination of modern Greek literature.

The “List of Letters” section includes all letters sent by Nikos Kazantzakis, available as digital copies and accompanied by their transcription, translation, and basic documentation. Additional information—mainly concerning archival metadata—has been recorded in the Kazantzakis Museum Database. The collection, digital presentation, and remote accessibility of this material aim to highlight and promote the research use of the archival sources, contributing to a deeper understanding of the personality and work of a creator of universal significance. The list includes letters addressed to X recipients, covering the period from X to X, and provides bibliographic references where letters have been published. The platform also features a search engine, allowing visitors to locate letters by sender, recipient, mentioned individuals or locations, as well as through keyword searches within the description, transcription, and translation texts—thus facilitating targeted research and study of the work of Nikos Kazantzakis.
